SAN ANTONIO (August 4, 2020) – Sundt Construction, Inc. has started work reconstructing Broadway Street from East Houston Street to Interstate Highway 35 in downtown San Antonio.
“We’re excited to continue Sundt’s role in reshaping downtown San Antonio,” said Jim O’Reilly, Sundt’s project manager. “This project presents some unique obstacles, but our team is up for the challenge.”
The $45 million design-build project includes a complete street reconstruct with curbs, sidewalks, driveway approaches, traffic signals, and drainage improvements. Other additions include extensive landscaping, lighting, and a “green infrastructure” low-impact development approach to manage stormwater runoff, as well as various underground utility upgrades. The project has a scheduled completion date of fall 2024, and Sundt’s design partner is AECOM.
In Texas, Sundt has 50 years and nearly $3 billion of project experience, with offices in San Antonio, Fort Worth, Irving and El Paso. The company is currently busy in the downtown San Antonio area working on the San Pedro Creek Improvements, Canopy by Hilton Downtown San Antonio and just finished construction on the CPS Energy Headquarters renovations.
