Training

Being the most skilled builder in America starts with training.

That’s why we invest in our employee-owners. Sundt’s Talent Development Program has been carefully built over time to give our employee-owners numerous ways to grow. We help our people advance their skills and careers, even as they help our customers, our communities and our company prosper.

HIGH-IMPACT LEADERS

Great leadership is key to Sundt’s employee-owner culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.

To ensure excellence, we’ve developed a nationally recognized leadership program—LEAP (Leadership Excellence Accelerates Performance)—which helps prepare managers for mid-level and senior leadership roles. LEAP provides a high-impact, high-engagement experience and gives participants knowledge, skills, experiences and network connections to accelerate their development and contributions as high impact leaders.

Nearly half of the senior leaders at Sundt are LEAP graduates.

ACCELERATING PERFORMANCE

Sundt also offers leadership development for early-career professionals through our START program, which is built on comprehensive assessments of individual strengths and opportunities and includes business challenge projects, powerful networking opportunities and a robust learning program. The START program’s three-pronged approach awakens participants to their leadership potential, aligns participant goals with organizational goals and accelerates participants’ performances through new experiences, skill practice and knowledge sharing.

Skilled Craft Training & Apprenticeships

Safety, quality and productivity are in the hands of our front lines.

Our answer to the nationwide shortage of skilled workers is to nurture our own talent, which is why we’re committed to creating opportunities for our skilled craft employees to learn, grow and be the best they can be. Opportunities for training for our craft workers include the option to attend evening classes for industrial carpentry and pipefitting and our apprenticeship programs. These are structured to accommodate attendees’ jobsite schedules. Many of our employee-owners began their construction careers with Sundt directly out of high school and are now managing multi-million dollar projects as superintendents.

Professional and Career Development

Experience has taught us that investing in professional development directly benefits our customers as well as our employee-owners.

For these reasons, we’re committed to ensuring that our people are as much at the leading-edge of their fields as are the materials, processes and technologies that go into all we build. Our dedication to continuing career advancement takes many forms, including:

  • Goals and Performance Reviews
  • Career Planning
  • Flexible training, including online and instructor-led
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Certification Support (CPC, DBIA, PE, LEED and more)

Starting Off Right

We want our employees to be engaged and informed, taking full advantage of the resources and opportunities that come with being a Sundt employee-owner

To help make that happen, we offer Sundt Orientation for new administrative team members monthly at our headquarters in Tempe, Arizona. This three-day course gives participants an understanding of how our company is structured, the advantages of employee-ownership, what to expect from our excellent health and wellness benefits, our commitment to innovation and much more.
