 |  Building, Press Release

EL PASO, Texas (May 7, 2020) – Sundt Construction, Inc. recently celebrated the completion of its renovation of the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso’s Sun Plaza residential community.

“We’re proud of this project and all of our work with the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso,” said Joseph Riccillo, project director and leader of Sundt’s El Paso office. “This project is a testament to the City of El Paso’s dedication to improving the lives of those within the community.”

The $31 million project consisted of renovating an existing multi-family high-rise and numerous cottages. The construction manager at-risk project started in March 2018. El Paso’s Wright & Dalbin Architects, Inc. served as the architect of record.

The renovation of Sun Plaza is part of HACEP’s initiative to revitalize all affordable housing communities in its portfolio throughout El Paso, using funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Rental Assistance Demonstration program. This is one of Sundt’s eight projects with HACEP. Teams are currently working on renovating Blue Flame, Tays and Sherman properties.

Over the past 10 years, Sundt has completed over a billion dollars in project work in the El Paso region. Currently the company is working on three projects for HACEP, including the revitalization of the historic Blue Flame building in downtown El Paso. Sundt is also in the process of building Phase 1 of Eastside Regional Park, part of the city’s Quality of Life bond measure. Sundt has offices in El Paso, Fort Worth, Irving and San Antonio and has delivered more than $3 billion of work throughout the Lone Star State.
