Sundt Foundation Distributes $15,000 In Grants In North Carolina

 |  Community Involvement, Press Release

Charlotte, N.C. (Month, Date, 2023) – The Sundt Foundation recently awarded $15,000 to three charities that provide resources and support for disadvantaged families in North Carolina.

“We are grateful to have the opportunity to support local charities through the Sundt Foundation,” said Andre Castaneda, Charlotte’s Sundt Foundation board member. “Knowing that our contributions directly impact the lives of those in need brings our group happiness and reinforces our commitment to making a positive difference in our community.”

A check for $5,000 was awarded to Charlotte Family Housing, Inc., an organization that empowers working families experiencing homelessness to achieve long-term self-sufficiency. The funds will go towards helping these families obtain safe and secure housing, trauma-informed counseling and empowerment tools. By the time a family leaves the program, the goal is that they have a level of income, financial confidence, and a healthy support system that will allow them to maintain stable housing moving forward.

Sugar Bear Foundation received a $5,000 grant. They provide resources and support to the Gold Star/Surviving Spouses (active-duty and service-connected loss) and children of fallen United States military personnel by providing career, educational, financial, and wellness programs. These programs are designed to help meet their immediate and ongoing needs, fostering their personal, emotional and social well-being. The funding from the Sundt Foundation supports Sugar Bear’s Financial Assistance Employment Program to fund needs-based grants.

Finally, $5,000 was awarded to Communities in Schools (CIS) Rowan, an organization that assists students and families from economically disadvantaged communities. CIS brings community resources into schools to remove barriers for students at risk of dropping out. CIS offers in-school mentoring and tutoring, supportive guidance to students and parents, school uniforms and supplies, referrals to community agencies, and assistance with emergency student clothing.

The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to local Southeast charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application and review process led by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners.
