Sund Employees deliver a check to Make-A-Wish San Diego

Funds will be used for education programs, veterans’ welfare and families in medical crises.

San Diego, Calif. (July 18, 2023) – The Sundt Foundation recently awarded $16,700 in grants to four Southern California charities.

“Our employee-owners are proud to support the missions of these nonprofits,” said Ryan Nessen, the Sundt Foundation’s San Diego region board member. “They provide essential services for children and adults in our community.”

The Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos and Make-A-Wish San Diego both received $5,000 to support their programs. The Foundation for Women Warriors was awarded $4,700, and Serving Seniors received a $2,000 grant.

The Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos is committed to furthering equity and access to community resources, which aligns with its mission to increase youth opportunities for growth and development. The grant supports their Career Pathways workforce readiness program.

With their grant, Make-A-Wish San Diego will continue its life-changing work to improve the quality of life for children battling critical illnesses and to bring families closer together despite the stress of childhood illness.

Through their Women Veteran Transition and Emergency Services, The Foundation for Women Warriors enhances the personal and economic well-being of women veterans and their children. They address the key obstacles veterans face upon transitioning from military service.

Serving Seniors provides a broad array of health-promoting services to help seniors in poverty thrive despite their low incomes. The grant will support their mission by purchasing hygiene products, clothing and other essential items.

The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to local San Diego-area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application and review process led by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners.
