SAN DIEGO, Calif. (September 5, 2018) – A $5,000 grant to Casa de Amparo from the Sundt Foundation will aid in treating and preventing child abuse and neglect in San Diego County and beyond. 
The organizationsupports more than 1,000 Casa Kids, from prenatal to 25 years old, as well as over 950 families, through integrated programs that promote healing, growth and healthy relationships.
“The Sundt Foundation is the most important tool to fulfill our mission and the company’s purpose,” said Andrew Apostolik, the Sundt Foundation’s Board President. “At Sundt, our purpose is to build environments where our clients, employee-owners and communities prosper which is why it is important we invest in San Diego.”
The Sundt Foundation awarded a total of $13,000 in grants to four Southern California-area nonprofits during its second-quarter disbursement. Other second-quarter grants include:
Adopt-A-Grandparent received $2,000 to connect isolated elderly individuals with volunteers.
City of Heights Coffee House received a $3,000 grant. The organization provides employment to marginalized people groups. They believe in radical inclusiveness, second chances and the sacred worth of each human being.
Developmental Services Continuum, Inc. received $3,000 to provide services for adults and children with developmental disabilities who have not been successful in other facilities.
During the third-quarter distribution the Sundt Foundation awarded $8,000 in grants to four additional nonprofits. Third-quarter grants include:
Angels Foster Family Network, which received $2,000, is dedicated to creating safe, stable loving homes for infants and toddlers in foster care throughout the County of San Diego, Calif.
San Diego Second Chance, which received $2,000, was founded in 1993 to ensure all members of the community have the means to achieve self-sufficiency, regardless of age, race or criminal history.
Straight From The Heart, which received $2,000, is a nonprofit resource center for foster, adoptive, kinship children and their caregivers.
Urban Surf 4 Kids, which received $2,000, is a unique outreach organization that works with orphan and foster kids. Using water sports as a catalyst, they teach kids how to have fun and give back to their communities.
The Sundt Foundation awards grants each quarter to area charities that support disadvantaged children and adults. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and requests are reviewed by a committee of Sundt Construction employee-owners.
