Sundt Foundation Awards $18,000 to Local Tucson Nonprofits

TUCSON, Ariz. (April 20, 2016) – Sundt Construction, Inc.‘s Tucson employees have selected 10 local nonprofit organizations to receive Sundt Foundation grants totaling $18,000 this quarter. The Sundt Foundation was established by Sundt in 1999 to give its employee-owners a means of giving back to their communities. It provides financial support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and adults. Most grants are made to organizations in the communities where Sundt has offices and construction projects. The Foundation is funded primarily by contributions from Sundt employees and company matching. To date, the organization has awarded more than $7 million in donations to organizations throughout Arizona, California, Texas and beyond.

Community Home Repair Projects of AZ is dedicated to assisting low-income homeowners in Tucson and Pima County by providing emergency home repairs as well as adaptive and safety modifications for people with disabilities.

Educational Enrichment Foundation (EEF) was created by Tucson community and business leaders to support the students and teachers within Tucson Unified School District schools. The funds will be used to provide learning resources and educational enrichment opportunities for students in need.

Habitat for Humanity Tucson will use the funds to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope for low-income families and those without homes.

Integrative Touch for Kids (ITK) supports families with children who have special needs. This includes kids with cancers, genetic conditions, autism, cerebral palsy and other serious health issues.

Make Way for Books will use the funds to provide books to under resourced sites and offer early literacy workshops for educators and parents.

YMCA of Southern Arizona strives to empower youth through physical activity and educational programs. The cause-driven organization will use the grant to provide individuals and families with tools and programs to build a strong spirit, mind and body.

Casa de los Niños, Inc. will use the funds to reach its long-term goal of providing high-quality, integrated care to families of southern Arizona.

Community Options, Inc. is a national agency dedicated to providing housing, support services and advocacy assistance to those with disabilities. Its Tucson affiliate will use the funds to develop residential and employment support for severely disabled individuals within the local community.

Compass Affordable Housing will use the grant money to improve the quality of family and community life by developing, producing and managing low-cost affordable housing.

Green Valley Assistance Services dba Valley Assistance Services will use the funds to support its safety, finance and health programs, designed to help seniors and families live independently.
