Sundt Foundation Awards $15,500 to Local Tucson Nonprofits

TUCSON, Ariz. (Nov. 18, 2015) – Sundt Construction, Inc.‘s Tucson employees have selected 10 local nonprofit organizations to receive Sundt Foundation grants totaling $15,500 this quarter. The Sundt Foundation was established by Sundt in 1999 to give its employee-owners a means of giving back to their communities. It provides financial support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and adults. Most grants are made to organizations in the communities where Sundt has offices and construction projects. The Foundation is funded primarily by contributions from Sundt employees and company matching. To date, the organization has awarded more than $7 million in donations to organizations throughout Arizona, California, Texas and beyond.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tucson offers professionally supported mentorship programs for children facing adversity. The program aims to help youth reach their full potential by strengthening their commitment to education and improving their self-confidence.

Assistance League of Tucson, Inc. will continue providing necessary and appropriate clothing, school supplies and grooming items to disadvantaged children, helping to remove several of the social barriers to school success.

Wildcat Youth Hockey Association will use the grant money to help support its youth hockey program, which helps kids ages 2-18 learn about the game of hockey in a positive environment.

Helping Hands for Single Moms Tucson supports impoverished single-mom families with various forms of assistance while the moms pursue a college education and financial independence.

Saddlebrooke Community Outreach will use the grant money to provide school clothing to thousands of children in low-income families throughout Tucson and the surrounding communities.

Southern Arizona Children’s Advocacy Center will use the grant to continue providing snacks and meals to children who have been removed from parental custody and are awaiting placement.

BAG IT provides information and support to individuals recently diagnosed with cancer. The information is designed to help cancer patients cope with their diagnosis, move more competently through the treatment process, empower them to become an active member of the treatment team and transition to follow-up care.

El Rio Health Center will use the grant to continue providing quality health care that is accessible to all who need it. The center currently provides medical and dental care to more than 80,000 people in the Tucson community.

Good Neighbor Ventures will use the grant money to implement a 10-week job readiness program serving 25 youth in one of its partnering neighborhoods.

Kids Animal Life and Dreams builds mentoring relationships with youth in foster care by offering animal assisted learning, initiating volunteer opportunities, helping them develop their potential and preparing them for a successful future.
