Sundt Foundation Awards $5,600 to Local El Paso Nonprofits

EL PASO, Texas (Dec. 18, 2015) Sundt Construction, Inc.‘s El Paso employees have selected three local nonprofit organizations, Donald R. Kemp Youth Hunting Club, Child Crisis Center of El Paso, and The H.O.P.E. Institute, to receive Sundt Foundation grants totaling $5,600 for this quarter.

Project Vida works to improve life in Central El Paso, one of the nation’s most impoverished neighborhoods, byoffering a variety of services, including health care, health education, homeless prevention, housing, economic development, early education and youth leadership activities.

H.O.P.E Institute (H.I.) will use the funds to support its affordable housing resources for homeless female veterans in El Paso County. H.I. provides food, shelter, clothing, transportation, life-skills and job training, and many other resources, helping the women prepare for employment, self-sufficiency and independent living.

Community Partners of El Paso, Inc. will use the grant to stock The Rainbow Room, an emergency resource room where Child Protective Services (CPS) caseworkers can obtain items such as clothing, diapers, personal hygiene items, school supplies, car seats and more to enhance the lives of neglected children.

The Sundt Foundation was established by Sundt in 1999 to give its employee-owners a means of giving back to their communities. It provides financial support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and adults. Most grants are made to organizations in the communities where Sundt has offices and construction projects. The Foundation is funded primarily by contributions from Sundt employees and company matching. To date, the organization has awarded more than $7 million in donations to organizations throughout Texas, California, Arizona and beyond.

Among the general contractor’s notable Texas projects are the West Seventh Street Bridge, Fort Worth; Warrior in Transition Barracks at Fort Bliss, Fort Sam Houston and Fort Hood; Reunion Tower, Dallas; Legacy Town Centers, Plano; work at Austin Bergstrom International Airport; the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) 911 Dispatch Center, San Antonio;the Career and Technology Education (CATE) building at Brackenridge High School, San Antonio; and the Wichita Falls Regional Airport terminal.
