Sundt Foundation Awards $7,500 to Local Nonprofits

 |  Press Release

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Sept. 2, 2014) – Sundt Construction, Inc.‘s Sacramento employees have selected three local nonprofit organizations, Sierra Forever Families, Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Dorado County and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Sacramento County, to receive $2,500 Sundt Foundation grants, totaling $7,500 this quarter.

Sierra Forever Families, a private, nonprofit agency that focuses on finding and nurturing permanent families for children living in foster care, will use the funds to support its mentoring program, which provides the foster children with experiences in the arts, music, sports, nature, dining out and volunteer service.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Dorado County, a mentorship program that helps children reach their full potential, will use the grant money to expand its services into the rural areas of El Dorado County and provide mentors to five children without further delay. Through the program, children facing adversity are encouraged and nurtured to become engaged citizens, which helps them avoid depression, truancy, incarceration, and drug and alcohol abuse.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Sacramento County, a group of trained community volunteers appointed by a judge as officers of the court to speak up for children in juvenile court, will continue providing older youth with a plan for transitioning into adulthood. The guidance of a CASA volunteer will help to ensure each young adult has a place to live, employment and a plan for the future.

The Sundt Foundation was established by Sundt in 1999 to give its employee-owners a means of giving back to their communities.
