TimothyMcDowell-resizedWe’re pleased to announce that Timothy McDowell has joined Sundt as a field superintendent in our Sacramento office. Tim comes to the company with more than eight years of experience working in the Southern California construction industry. Following his initial assignment with the University of Nevada, Reno Cooper Court Residence Hall project team, he will join the Kings County Courthouse project team in Hanford, California. We recently asked him a few questions to get to know him better.

What brought you to Sundt?

After working in Southern California for over 30 years, my wife and I were ready for a change of scenery. I was also attracted to the type of work Sundt does and the company’s reputation.

What’s a typical work day like for you, i.e. what are your major duties/responsibilities?

I arrive 1-2 hours before the subs show up to make sure I am up to date on any changes in the work plan from the previous day and have an understanding of the day’s flow. I also make sure all daily planned work and safety precautions get executed properly. I help the subs work through any problems that arise and communicate with the project superintendent/project manager regarding any issues that require their attention. I also make sure the specified materials are used and the work goes in place properly.

What would you be doing if you weren’t working in construction?

If money was not an issue I would turn to the back page of most sporting magazines you see and start picking trips to go on.

Favorite type of cuisine?

I haven’t found much I don’t like … if I have to pick a favorite it would probably be Italian.

Best movie you’ve seen recently?

“Lone Survivor”

Coolest app you’ve been using lately?

Personal: Trimble pro GPS hunting and fishing tracking app. For work: OSHA heat tool

Favorite sport, either to play or to watch?

Football

Favorite quote or inspirational saying?

In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the second best thing you can do is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing. – Theodore Roosevelt

How do you like to spend your free time?

I work out three times a week. I also enjoy several different outdoor sports such as hiking, fishing, hunting, archery, shooting and mountain biking. The best is relaxing somewhere with my wife and a cocktail.
