Several areas of the building were modernized as part of Sundt’s $8.6 million project.

Sundt’s experience with community college construction helped it successfully complete an $8.6 million renovation project at De Anza College in Cupertino, Calif. The project focused on upgrading the Advanced Technology Center (ATC), home to the school’s film and TV departments and the division office for Disability Support Programs and Services. The project involved modernizing the building’s air-handling units, elevator, restrooms, data cabling and data rooms, and roofing.

As challenges arose, Sundt used its experience working on busy college and university campuses to navigate around them and find solutions.

“Our business is building, and we understand that the District’s business is education, so when our built-up roofing operations happened to coincide with the students’ final exams, we scheduled all roofing work to occur over the weekend to minimize the impact to the immediate community,” said Sundt Field Superintendent Jason Hughes. “Our crews worked seven days a week until the work was completed to eliminate any potential schedule impacts.”
