 |  Press Release

COSTA MESA, Calif. (Sept. 26, 2013) – Construction has begun on Orange Coast College’s new math, business and computing complex. Sundt Construction, Inc.’s (www.sundt.com) project team broke ground on the first phase of the $38 million project earlier this month.

Through collaboration with Coast Community College District and architect LPA Inc., the 78,000-square-foot project is designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The sustainable features will include glazing for day lighting and views, exterior circulation areas, cross-ventilated classrooms, low water-use fixtures and a thermal-comfort design. The facility’s construction will incorporate the use of recycled, regional and low-emitting materials, and certified woods. On this project, Sundt will serve as the district’s construction manager, and the project will be delivered using a multiple-prime delivery method, in which each discipline is bid separately and awarded directly with the district.

Upon completion, the new complex will support 35 administrative offices, a 200-station open computer lab, 11 computer teaching labs for mixed use, nine lecture classrooms for business and computing courses, 15 mathematics lecture classrooms, two meeting rooms and a workroom, lounge and study areas.
