Construction Begins on New Pima Animal Care Facility

 |  Press Release

TUCSON, Arizona (Mar. 1, 2017) – Construction of a new shelter is underway at Pima Animal Care Center (PACC).

Sundt Construction, Inc. (www.sundt.com) began the first phase of the project last month. The new shelter will be about 60,000 square feet. Nearly 93 percent of the total area is allocated to functions that directly house or support the housing, care and adoption of pets at PACC.

Features of the new facility include fresh air and natural lighting throughout the building, well-designed plumbing and cleaning systems for pet housing areas, an expanded veterinary clinic, expanded cat housing areas and indoor/outdoor canine housing units.

“Our team is pleased to help PACC in modernizing and improving its facilities. PACC will be able to give the animals the space they need to thrive while waiting for a permanent home,” said Sundt Project Director David Ollanik.

The staff and pets of PACC are expected to move into the new facility in December, and Sundt will then begin phase 2 of the construction project, a renovation of PACC’s existing facility.
