Sundt was a sponsor of the Big Dig in the Desert, which raised more than $175,000 for cancer research.

There are few things more inspiring than seeing young cancer patients enjoying themselves and forgetting about their problems for a while.

It’s one of the reasons why Sundt again served as a sponsor for the Big Dig in the Desert in Mesa, Arizona earlier this month. The event, which is held by the American Cancer Society, gives Phoenix-area kids the opportunity to operate heavy machinery, including excavators, scissor lifts and more. Several of the children were battling cancer.

The children worked the machinery with the help of volunteers who were certified to operate the equipment.

The event, held for the second time, was attended by more than 1,400 people and raised more than $175,000 for cancer research.
