Sacramento, Calif. (July, 6, 2023) – The Sundt Foundation recently awarded $13,000 in total to two charities that provide resources and support for families facing homelessness in Northern California.

“These grants are such an important investment in our communities,” said Julie Deschenes, the Sundt Foundation’s Sacramento region board member. “These are two great organizations that we are honored to be able to support with the funds so generously gifted by our employee-owners.”

A $6,500 grant was awarded to Healing Hands Home for Battered Women (HHHBW) in Rio Vista, California. The funds will go towards providing temporary housing, activities and empowerment and life development programs for women. HHHBW provides a safe haven for survivors of domestic abuse as well as education to eliminate the cycle of violence, identify the signs and deter individuals from homelessness.

Another $6,500 grant was given to Love-a-Child Missions in Bay Point. This organization provides 24/7 emergency shelter and recovery care for unsheltered women and children. The goal of Love-a-Child is to lift families from poverty and provide life-sustaining skills to parents and guardians of children by providing safe shelter, job training, and other resources and support.

The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to local California charities that support disadvantaged adults, children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application and review process led by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners.
