Sundt Selected to Build Engine Dynamometer Facility At Marine Corps Logistics Base – Barstow, California

BARSTOW, Calif. (April 13, 2015) – The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southwest, San Diego, California, recently awarded Sundt Construction, Inc. (www.sundt.com) a $13.5 million design-build contract for a new engine dynamometer facility at Marine Corps Logistics Base – Barstow, California.

Once completed, the 10,000-square-foot, high-bay, single-story facility will be used for testing Marine Corps assets and equipment, including reciprocating engines and transmissions. The facility will house seven engine dynamometers, supplied by the government, as well as ancillary equipment and systems to support the dynamometer process. The design phase is expected to begin immediately, with construction scheduled to begin later this year.

Sundt’s recent work in the military sector includes the Camp Johnson Bachelor Enlisted Quarters at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; Special Forces Ground Support Battalion Center at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; runway improvements at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico; repair of infrastructure and several buildings at Naval Weapons Station Earle Pier in Colts Neck, New Jersey; and a flight simulator facility at Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Arizona.
