SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Mar. 25 2015) – Sundt Construction, Inc.‘s Sacramento employees selected three local nonprofit organizations, Blessings in a Backpack Rancho, International Association Mentors of Peace Inc. and Sacramento Children’s Home, each to receive $2,500 Sundt Foundation grants totaling $7,500 this quarter.
Blessings in a Backpack Rancho will use the grant money to feed disadvantaged children on weekends when the children are not in school. Each child receives a bag of food, including six meals and two snacks every Friday to carry them through the weekend. The program allows children to focus on schoolwork and being a child, instead of worrying about their next meal.
International Association Mentors of Peace Inc. will use the funds to support its mentorship program for disadvantaged youth. Besides providing a safe place where children can connect with others, the mentorship program offers training in self-esteem, conflict resolution, empathy, leadership and college preparation.
Sacramento Children’s Home offers respite for families during times of extreme crisis, emergency childcare for children ages infant through five years old, and crisis intervention and case management services for families with limited resources. The grant money will help support the nonprofit’s continued efforts tobuild family support systems and provide developmentally appropriate learning activities for children in times of crisis.
The Sundt Foundation was established by Sundt in 1999 to give its employee-owners a means of giving back to their communities. It provides financial support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and adults.
