Arizona

Sundt is a leading contractor in Arizona, building some of the most significant structures and infrastructure across the state.

It was a sense of purpose that brought Sundt to Arizona in 1929 to build a small Methodist church in Tucson near the University of Arizona. Today, as one of the most respected, diversified, and largest employee-owned builders, Sundt is uniquely positioned to lead Arizona’s construction market and build the projects that shape Arizonans’ daily lives.

BUILDING PROSPERITY AT HOME

Sundt has grown to become ENR’s top-ranked contractor by revenue across the Southwest.

We’ve also been named one of Arizona’s most admired companies (Arizona Business Magazine) five times and have been honored year after year for our social impact, our excellence as an employer of veterans and more. Through our involvement in numerous business and community organizations and millions given to local nonprofits, Sundt is committed to building prosperity for Arizona.

DEEP ROOTS, DYNAMIC FUTURE

Historically, much of our work in the Grand Canyon State has been in transportation, mining, water, commercial and government markets.

In recent years, we’ve also become a key contractor for industrial projects in the semiconductor market. With our expanding portfolios in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, entertainment, higher education and urban mixed-use development, including hi-rise development, Sundt is constructing not only Arizona’s skylines but its future.

Landmark Construction

Our work has created new landmarks. Other times, we’ve made time-honored landmarks new again.

The inverted-pyramid Tempe Municipal Building was an early innovation in building for sustainability, and it was also the most complex building shape to construct. Lake Havasu City became known, thanks to Sundt’s relocation work, as the new home of the London Bridge. In Tucson, we won multiple industry awards for our renovation of the University of Arizona’s 1891 Old Main. We’ve built high in Arizona, housing one of the world’s largest telescopes atop Kitt Peak, and we’ve built low, such as a 7,500 cubic yards of concrete slabs 25 feet below grade to support the seven-story Pima County Downtown Service Center.

CRAFTING A LEGACY

Arizona has pushed us to the frontiers of technology and allowed us to honor the state’s storied past.

Sundt constructed major components of the Solana Generating Station, the first U.S. solar plant with molten salt thermal energy storage. We worked with Frank Lloyd Wright’s original sandcast aluminum molds when constructing the first major addition to the legendary Arizona Biltmore Hotel. It was a sense of purpose that brought Sundt to Arizona. And it’s with a sense of purpose that we continue our work here every day, building prosperity for our customers and Arizona’s communities.
