Project Overview

The Apollo Riverpoint Center is a 37-acre campus that, when it was completed, served as the worldwide headquarters for the Apollo Group and the University of Phoenix. The facility was constructed to provide this educational institution with a hub to centralize its online learning programs and consolidate its headquarters into one beautiful location.

Operational space for the university’s online learning programs and corporate headquarters occupies the one 10-story building and two six-story buildings. Combined, the buildings add up to be 600,000 square feet. In addition to the office and learning spaces, Sundt constructed two parking garages plus surface lots to provide parking spaces for 4,500 vehicles.

The three office buildings feature cast-in-place post-tension concrete structural frames built to exacting tolerances. Quality skin materials of high-performance glass, copper siding, native stone, five-ply roofing and architectural precast concrete are coordinated in an award-winning design and craftsmanship to create a watertight, high quality product with at least a 30 to 40-year life.

During construction of the shell buildings, the owner shifted the functionality of the buildings in terms of space plan, usage and density. Because of the change, the project team now needed to resequence the the entire interiors schedule, but still complete the work within the original timeline for the 10-story building and a slightly extended timeline for the two six-story buildings. The team rose to the challenge and completed all requested changes within the new budgets and move-in occurred on schedule.
