Project Overview
The Texas Department of Transportation’s SH 178 Artcraft Road Improvements project is a major transportation investment that will improve mobility and connectivity between the New Mexico state line and I-10 in the El Paso region.
The project team will reconstruct Artcraft Road, providing significant interchange improvements, including reconstruction of an existing overpass, new grade separations, four direct connectors, and U-turn facilities. The project is designed to improve traffic flow and regional accessibility.
Additional improvements include intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic signals, roadway lighting, drainage infrastructure, water lines, and sanitary sewer systems. These enhancements will modernize critical transportation infrastructure while supporting safer and more efficient travel throughout the corridor.
The project requires complex phasing and maintenance of traffic operations to keep the roadway functioning throughout construction.
