Highlights & Features
- Significant coordination with University of North Texas due to project proximity to football stadium and other athletic facilities.
- 2 miles of roadway reconstruction and widening.
Project Overview
Phase 3 is the final phase of the South Bonnie Brae Improvement Project, widening the existing 2-lane rural road between Roselawn Drive and Airport Road/FM 1515 to a 4-laned divided urban street, connecting with the existing 4-lane section north of I-35E. This creates a needed major north-south connector between US377/I-35W via Vintage Boulevard and I-35E on the south end and US 77/Loop 288 on the north.
Upon completion, Phase 3 will contain 66,000 square yards of concrete paving and 3,500 square yards of asphalt paving. Underground utilities include 4,700 linear feet of 12-inch water line, 6,800 linear feet of sewer line and 8,100 linear feet of storm drain. New traffic signals at Roselawn Drive, Willowwood Street, and FM 1515 & I-35E will also be installed as well as 55 new streetlights and underground electrical/telecommunication duct bank.
Due to its proximity to the I-35 Merge and the University of North Texas Stadium, the area experiences high traffic. The construction team has worked extensively with both TxDOT and UNT staff to help alleviate disruptions, coordinating closures and adjusting schedules to accommodate high traffic events such as home football games.
