Tell us about your favorite KAPBCS moment.

As a long time resident of the City of Fort Worth, watching the West 7th Street bridge being constructed was awesome. It was not until I joined Sundt that I realized that this was a Sundt project. It’s one of the projects I tell everyone about.

What movie or television character do you relate to most and why?

Master Chief Petty Officer Jason Hayes from the TV show SEAL Team. My strongest skill set is in leadership. The cornerstone of my career has been the ability to assemble the right team around me and lead us in the right direction. Jason Hayes exemplifies this skill set in the role of “Bravo One” in the SEAL Team series, despite the challenges thrown at him. He is a team-first guy, putting his efforts into doing the right thing for the team and their mission first, even at great personal sacrifice.

Why did you choose to work in the construction industry?

I used the skills and technical training I received while serving on active duty in the Navy to get a job with a local industrial and buildings contractor while I was finishing college. During that period of my life, I realized that I had the skill set to succeed in the construction industry and decided to give up a career in full-time ministry for a career in construction.

Share a couple of your favorite hobbies.

My Christian faith, my wife of 32 years, my four kids and five grandkids, then everything else in that order. Oh, and I’m an avid marathon and half-marathon runner.

What is your favorite place in the world?

My wife and I had the opportunity to live (and work) in Oahu, Hawaii for two years, and it’s still the place we love to go on vacation. Every time we step foot back on island, it’s like being at home.
