Tell us about your favorite KAPBCS moment.

After a long, multi-year pursuit and several potential project cancellations, we were finally shortlisted for a key project. The agency issued the RFP over Memorial Day weekend with a tight deadline. We turned around the RFP in record time while pursuing several other projects and won. Our willingness to say YES is the employee-owner difference that makes us KAPBCS!

What movie or television character do you relate to most and why?

Probably Norm Abram from New Yankee Workshop and This Old House. I love the smell and feel of sawdust. I started as a carpenter in high school and worked as a cabinet maker in college.

Why did you choose to work in the construction industry?

It seemed to choose me. In college I was at a coffee shop with my future wife watching a crew remodel the shop next door. At the time I was a business major and thought, “here’s a job where you go to a different jobsite, don’t have to wear a suit and face different and unique challenges each day.” After that, I switched my major to construction.

Share a couple of your favorite hobbies.

Woodworking, of course. I also enjoy exercising, training my two golden retrievers and anything outdoors (golfing, hunting, fishing, and skiing).
