Tell us about your favorite Sundt project.
My favorite Sundt project was my first one with Sundt, the Avondale Government Center. It was a design-build project with SmithGroup and one of the first projects where Sundt had our Building Group, Transportation Group, and Concrete Division sharing a trailer complex and relying on each other for our project success. It was my introduction to a “One Sundt” mindset and a great representation of the collective power of our depth of resources and services. That was 21+ years ago, and many of those employee-owners are either still with Sundt or retired as a long-term Sundt employee.
What movie or television character do you relate to most and why?
My wife and kids call me Ted Lasso so that would probably be the one I’d choose. I am a strong believer that finding the positive is an essential element to overall success in both life and work, and I try to embody that in my approach to most situations. Believe!
Why did you choose to work in the construction industry?
I was always interested in construction, but the industry really chose me. I was headed down a different path entirely and took an intro construction/architecture/urban planning class during my junior year in college. I left that class hooked and changed my major to construction management the next quarter. I would say my favorite part is that we build something tangible, and I can see the positive impact on neighborhoods, communities, and the day-to-day life for the people who live and work in the areas we build.
