Tell us about your favorite KAPBCS moment.
My favorite KAPBCS moment was the Sellwood Bridge deck placement. It’s one of my proudest moments in construction, where we placed 4,400 cubic yards of concrete for spans 3, 4 and 5 bridge deck between November and January. The work was completed through 10 separate placements, each requiring tight coordination and execution.
What made this accomplishment especially meaningful was the adverse weather we faced—constant rain, freezing temperatures and challenging Northwest winter conditions. Despite these obstacles, our team maintained high quality, safety and schedule standards. We adapted our planning and sequencing to protect the concrete from the elements, implemented thermal control measures and worked closely with suppliers and inspectors to ensure every placement met specification.
It was a true team effort that showed our resilience, collaboration, and commitment to excellence—delivering a key milestone for a major public infrastructure project under some really tough conditions.
Share a couple of your favorite hobbies.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors and pursuing hobbies that challenge me in different ways.
One of my favorites is skiing. I love being in the mountains and the combination of focus, skill, and freedom that comes with it. It’s a great way to spend time with my family and friends. I’m also a pilot, and flying is something I’m very passionate about. There’s nothing quite like the perspective you get from the air. It requires precision and responsibility, but it’s incredibly rewarding and offers a sense of adventure. I also enjoy fishing. It’s a great balance for a busy life. It teaches patience, gives me time to relax and lets me connect with nature.
