Each of my projects have been rewarding so far, but I believe the best is still ahead.
Why did you choose to work in the construction industry?
Probably my dad, followed by my oldest brother. My father was the director of the engineering department for the City of San Diego. He led major city projects in the 1960s, including Jack Murphy Stadium and the City Administration Building. Watching the construction of these projects at an early age really sparked my interest. Additionally, my oldest brother (one of nine siblings) began as a carpenter apprentice in the early ’70s and eventually became a superintendent with one of San Diego’s largest general contractors. I followed in his footsteps, joining the same company as an apprentice carpenter in 1984. I guess you could say construction was in my blood.
