Tell us about your favorite Sundt project.

My favorite Sundt project is phase 1 of a large industrial wastewater treatment plant in Chandler, Arizona. That project truly represents our skill, grit, and purpose as a project team. It was a project with an accelerated schedule for a very demanding owner. The project team came together with a purpose and a lot of grit to complete that project on time and under budget. That project really springboarded Sundt’s industrial portfolio for large water and wastewater treatment projects not only locally, but throughout the US as well.

Why did you choose to work in the construction industry?

Having grown up in a very small town and helping my grandparents with the family farm, we were always building something or fixing equipment, implements, etc. I’ve always preferred working out in the field getting my hands dirty versus being inside all day. And as a kid from the sticks in western Kansas, there weren’t any tall buildings or large bridges. The first time I went to Kansas City and saw significant river bridges and the downtown, I wanted to know how to build them and then build them.

What is your favorite place in the world?

Israel. I’ve been there 7-8 times and the history and significance of Israel is amazing! Old town Jerusalem and the temple is spectacular. Thinking about how Jesus may have walked on those very steps 2,000 years ago is mind-blowing.
