Tell us about your favorite KAPBCS moment.

I have two favorites. The first is about the annual ASC student competition in Reno, Nevada each year. Sundt traditionally attended the ASC Student Competition for recruitment only. In 2009 I petitioned the committee to sponsor a problem statement. We were awarded problem sponsorship, and I then led the Concrete Solutions Problem sponsorship at the annual Student Competition from 2010-2017.
My next favorite KAPBCS moment is our culture. I have had the great fortune of seeing this company change over the past 20 years. The growth, overcoming challenges, sharing retirements, and even attending funerals. It’s the culture of the kick ass people here that is my favorite. When hundreds of people come to a funeral for a coworker or when we rally around someone in need, that says something about who we are.

Tell us about your favorite Sundt project.

I have been a part of many awesome projects through the years, and I’m not sure I have a favorite. I’d say all the hands-on Sundt Foundation projects, giving back to our communities are my favorite.

Why did you choose to work in the construction industry?

My father was an amateur builder and so growing up I was always helping him with projects. This developed my love for doing things with my hands. I naturally started working within the industry in high school and when I found out about construction management as a degree option, I knew my future would be in construction.

Share a couple of your favorite hobbies.

I spend my free time doing home improvement projects and building things for the kids. The kids tend to cause a lot of damage and with six rugrats I tend to build, repair and repeat. Besides DIY projects, I like to get out and go fishing.
