TEMPE, Ariz. (June 08, 2026) – Sundt Construction has named Anthony Hakes as corporate controller, bringing more than 30 years of construction accounting and advisory experience to the company’s finance leadership team.
Hakes will oversee accounting operations and support financial planning across the organization, helping strengthen financial processes and advance Sundt’s long-term operational goals. He succeeds Patrick Dooley, who will retire in June 2027.
“Tony’s background supporting complex contractor operations and growing organizations makes him a strong addition to our leadership team,” said Sundt Chief Financial Officer Keenan Driscoll.
Before joining Sundt, Hakes was lead managing director and shareholder at CBIZ and CBIZ CPAs PC, where he led the firm’s construction practice and supported contractor clients nationwide. He also served on the board of directors for CBIZ CPAs PC during a period of significant growth, establishing the firm as one of the nation’s largest accounting providers and a #1 Ranking in Construction Executive’s list of The 2025 Top 50 Construction Accounting Firms.
Hakes earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Iowa State University and holds both Certified Public Accountant and Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional credentials.
Hakes is active in several industry organizations, serving as treasurer of the Arizona Chapter of the Associated General Contractors and as a member of its executive committee and board of directors. He also serves on the Emerging Issues Committee for the Construction Financial Management Association and is a graduate of the Arizona Builders Alliance Leadership Development Forum program.
