FULLERTON, Calif. (Sept. 10, 2025) – Sundt Construction celebrated a major milestone last month with the topping out of the Phase V student housing project at California State University, Fullerton. A topping out marks the placement of the final structural beam on a construction project.
The $130 million project will add 512 new student beds and includes community lounges, study spaces, and outdoor gathering areas designed to enhance the on-campus living experience. The six-story facility is part of the university’s strategic effort to expand affordable housing and foster student well-being and academic success.
“Our team is proud to reach this key milestone in partnership with CSU Fullerton,” said Jim Householder, vice president and regional manager for Sundt’s Building Group, California District. “Topping out is always a special moment that reflects the hard work of everyone on site. We’re looking forward to the next stage of work as we begin closing up the structure and working through the interior phases.”
Sundt broke ground on the project in fall 2024. The project remains on track for completion in summer 2026.
