The coalition’s mission is to promote, develop and support training and community education efforts that prevent fatal drownings, non-fatal drownings and other water-related incidents in El Paso County and the surrounding area.

“This topic hits close to our heart,” said Joseph Riccillo, the Sundt Foundation’s Vice President. “One of our employee-owners recently experienced a water-related incident with a family member. Our committee wanted to do something to prevent these kinds of accidents in the future, and with this grant we hope they will continue to provide much-needed training and education.”

The organization will receive its grant check at Sundt El Paso’s grand re-opening party in early December.

The Sundt Foundation awarded a total of $10,000 to El Paso-area nonprofits during its fourth-quarter disbursements. Other fourth-quarter grants include:

American Cancer Society, which received $4,000, provides support to cancer patients, and funds cancer research.

CASA of El Paso, Inc., which received $1,000, trains and supports volunteers from the community to advocate for abused and neglected children who need representation in the family court system, striving to provide them a safe and permanent home.

Villa Maria, which received $1,000, offers a safe environment for women who are homeless and helps them transition from crisis to self-sufficiency.

The Sundt Foundation awards grants quarterly to area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.
