Tucson International Airport is becoming familiar ground. We have acquired a third project at the site in the past 13 years.

Our team starts terminal optimization work in June 2016 with construction expected to last 17 months.

The selection can be traced to our success delivering those two previous jobs, demonstrating the connection between a positive client experience and business development.

On the previous two projects, Sundt worked hand in hand with the Tucson Airport Authority and developed not only business relationships but friendships,” said Michael Hill, who will again serve as Project Manager on this job.Our relationships were based on trust and on doing what we said we would do. Both Sundt and the owner had a true desire to see each other succeed and it showed in how those projects were completed.”

This project includes relocation of the two existing security checkpoints to an expanded configuration that will upgrade the terminal’s passenger level of service. The work will open a number of concessions opportunities to increase airport revenues.

We completed a major expansion of the airport’s terminal in 2005. In a second phase, which finished in 2008, we renovated the interiors of the two concourses.

The new work underscores Sundt’s reputation as a leader in aviation construction. We have done more than $560 million worth of airport expansions over the past 10 years, including the Wichita Falls Municipal Airport Terminal Replacement in Texas, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Passenger Terminal Expansion and San Diego International Airport Landside Modifications.
