SALT LAKE CITY (December 27, 2023) – The Sundt Foundation awarded $10,000 in grants to three Salt Lake City nonprofits: First Step House, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area and The Sharing Place.

“Thanks to the generosity of our employee-owners, we’re able to give to a variety of local nonprofit organizations that provide support and resources to our community,” said Jasen Bennie, the Sundt Foundation’s Salt Lake City region board member. “We’re happy to help support their work in caring for children, veterans and families.”

First Step House was awarded $5,000 to support their Valor House program. Valor House offers safe and stable housing for transitioning veterans with integrated services to help meet a variety of needs. This grant from the Sundt Foundation will help ensure Valor House can continue to serve every veteran who needs a safe, stable place to live.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of the Intermountain Area was awarded $2,500 to help fund overnight stays and supportive services to families with children being treated for life-threatening illnesses or injuries. Traveling to and from the hospital and clinics to receive treatment can take a huge mental, physical and financial toll on families, so RMHC assists in easing these burdens by providing more than 10,000 families (15,000 individuals) each year with needed respite and medical lodging for the length of their children’s treatment at no cost.

The Sharing Place (TSP) was also awarded $2,500 to support the growth of their support groups for children who are grieving the loss of a family member. TSP support groups allow for the healthy expression of feelings and emotions in a safe and comfortable environment with others who have also experienced the death of a loved one. Over the past 30 years, TSP has made an impact on the lives of over 6,000 Utah youth.
