Portland, Oregon (November 28, 2023) – Sundt Construction recently added Mads Sargent as a project health, safety, and environment (HSE) manager for its Industrial Group in Oregon.

As HSE manager, Sargent facilitates and supports the Sundt HSE management systems for the administrative team, craft workers and subcontractors on our water treatment plant under construction in Sherwood. She is dedicated to reinforcing Sundt’s strong safety culture and protecting the health and well-being of others.

“Safety is core to who we are at Sundt, so our HSE managers spearhead an extremely important responsibility,” said Senior HSE Manager James Castaneda. “Mads is taking on the key role of keeping everyone on the jobsite aligned with our safety goals and principles, ensuring that everyone can go home to their families at the end of each day.”

Sargent brings a wealth of experience from her previous role as QHSE team leader on a train manufacturer’s commissioning team. Her notable past projects include the Sound Transit Expansion, Tacoma Link Expansion, TriMet new train-set delivery, Houston Metro, and Minneapolis Metro Transit System. She is professionally trained, and OSHA certified in confined spaces, fall protection, high voltage electrical, NFPA 70E, medical trauma response and more.

Sundt has been building critical infrastructure across the Western United States for 132 years. In 2016, the company completed the award-winning Sellwood Bridge in Portland and was recently awarded the Interstate-5 Rose Quarter improvement project in northeast Portland and the Boeckman Road Corridor project in Wilsonville, Ore. The company is building the water treatment plant in southwest Portland.
