Sundt Tops Out Arizona Biltmore Golf Club Renovations

 |  Press Release

TEMPE, Ariz. (Nov. 2, 2023) – Sundt Construction, alongside owners JDM and design partners Douglas Fredrikson Architects, celebrated the topping out of the Adobe Restaurant and Clubhouse, the second phase of the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club Renovations project.

“We’re thrilled to be topping out our work on the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club,” said Project Executive Michael Nunn. “This is such a landmark of architectural innovation, and the owner put forth a lot of trust in us to match the craftsmanship of the historic portions of the building. It’s an honor to be a part of the Biltmore story.”

The second phase of improvements includes a new clubhouse and restaurant with private dining room, ballroom and roof deck. The first phase of the project added a new golf shop, member facilities and cart barn. The project scope also included site work starting with the demolition of the existing covered cart storage and addition of resort-style landscaping, water features and parking lot improvements. The club’s courses and existing clubhouse remained open throughout the first phase of construction.

The primary goal of this project was to enhance this remarkable 100-year-old property while preserving its original character, ensuring that the golf club and courses will prosper for another 100 years or more. The Biltmore properties are known for their iconic architecture and pre-cast “Biltmore Blocks,” born from a collaboration between world-renowned architects Albert Chase McArthur and Frank Lloyd Wright. The Sundt team self-performed concrete for the new Biltmore Golf Club using a board form finishing technique that creates a stylized textural appearance to the concrete, ensuring the cohesion between the new additions and historic portions of the property.
