FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (May 27, 2021) – Sundt Construction, Inc., recently started construction on the Arizona Department of Transportation’s (ADOT) Interstate 40 (I-40) West Flagstaff bridge replacement approximately three miles west of the Interstate 17 junction.
“We have a long history of working with ADOT to improve the transportation around the state, including in and around Flagstaff,” said Austin Conway, project manager for Sundt’s Transportation Group. “The new bridges will improve safety for I-40 and meet future traffic demands.”
The $6.5 million project consists of replacing the existing three-span concrete bridge in both eastbound and westbound directions and adding a new single-precast concrete bridge. The project, located between A-1 Mountain Road and South Flagstaff Ranch Road on the I-40, also includes widening the approach roadway, replacing the guardrail and replacing pavement markings in both directions. Construction is slated for completion in June 2022.
