Gilbert, Ariz. (August 12, 2024) – Sundt has officially broken ground on the Ocotillo Bridge and Road Extension project for the Town of Gilbert after three years of preconstruction services.
“We’re thrilled to be starting work on this important project which will provide a much-needed arterial connection and bring the Town’s long awaited vision to life,” said Sundt Vice President and Business Development Manager Jeff Hamilton.
Ocotillo Road will be extended from Greenfield Road to Higley Road, spanning 0.85 miles over four existing waterways. Four structures will be constructed, including three vehicular bridges and a box culvert. Sundt has been working with design firm Kimley Horn to make the Town’s proposed concept a reality.
Ocotillo Bridge, the largest of the four structures, will be constructed over the Chandler Heights Regional Basin, where the future phases of Gilbert Regional Park are currently being designed. The Town solicited feedback from residents on the design of this bridge, receiving over 6,000 responses. The Ocotillo Bridge will include two pedestrian bridges with two entryways to Gilbert Regional Park accommodating pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicles to the future 272-acre Gilbert Regional Park.
