Sundt Foundation Expands into the Southeast

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (October 15, 2021) – The Sundt Foundation is expanding its reach to include Charlotte as one of its 11 giving areas. The Foundation awards grants each quarter to nonprofit organizations that assist disadvantaged children, individuals and families.

“Supporting our communities through the Sundt Foundation is at the core of our company’s purpose,” said Madison Jones, President of the Sundt Foundation. “Our employee-owners in the Southeast believe in giving back to the community where we live and work, and now that we’ve established an office there, it makes sense to bring the Foundation to the region.”

The Sundt Foundation, established in 1999, allows its employee-owners to give back to the places where they live and work. Nonprofit recipients of grants are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners. To date, the Foundation has contributed more than $11 million to nonprofits across the country.

“Our employees are passionate about contributing to our community,” said Andre Castaneda, Charlotte’s Sundt Foundation board member. “The Sundt Foundation will provide the conduit to reach those less fortunate in the region and we are happy to make a difference.”

The Foundation’s fourth-quarter grant cycle is open. Charlotte nonprofits are encouraged to visit www.sundtfoundation.org and apply by December 15. Grants range from $1,000 to $10,000.

Sundt’s history in the Southeast dates back more than 50 years. Some of the firm’s notable area landmarks include Launch Pad 39A at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center, where NASA first launched US astronauts into space, and the concrete core of One Atlantic Center in Atlanta, Ga., built using an innovative “slipform” technique pioneered by Sundt and later used all over the country.
