SAN DIEGO, Calif. (February 17, 2021) – The Sundt Foundation awarded $15,000 in grants to five San Diego nonprofits during its current giving round.

The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to San Diego-area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.

“Each of these organizations has fearlessly fought against the challenges this pandemic has brought upon them,” said Ryan Nessen, the Sundt Foundation’s San Diego region board member. “All five charities selected this quarter are highly deserving of a grant to continue to make a positive impact in the San Diego community and fight against COVID-19.”

Nonprofits receiving the grants include:

Boys to Men Mentoring Network, Inc., received $3,500 to support their virtual mentoring program, which connects at-risk boys to mentors to build cultivating relationships and empower one another.

Oncology and Kids, Inc., which received $3,000, provides support for children and their families who are going through cancer treatment. Specifically, this grant will support their Sibling Camp and its virtual camp Reach for the Sky, designed for brothers and sisters of kids going through treatment.

Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation received $3,500 to help fund their custom-built van to transport children with medical complexities receiving care at Rady Children’s Hospital.

San Diego Center for Counseling, which received $2,500, offers therapy and social-emotional learning sessions for both children and their families.

The San Diego Blood Bank received $2,500 to help fund the purchase of a Trima system to collect COVID-19 convalescent plasma at its new donor centers.
