Sundt Foundation Contributes to COVID-19 Relief in El Paso

 |  Press Release, Sundt Foundation

EL PASO, Texas (May 26, 2020) – The Sundt Foundation donated $11,000 in emergency relief funds to two local nonprofits to address the increased need due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  El Pasoans Fighting Hunger received $10,000, and El Paso Center Against Sexual & Family Violence received $1,000.

“Our Foundation board made a swift decision to donate $200,000 in relief aid to over 20 nonprofits across our nine geographic markets,” said Joseph Riccillo, the Sundt Foundation’s Vice President. “In El Paso, many of our fellow community members are struggling to find their next meal. We take comfort in knowing our gift will supply over 70,000 meals to those most vulnerable in our region.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the food bank is serving far more than the 200,000 people who are typically food insecure across the Borderland region.  They are also offering home-delivered meals for those who are at higher risk.

“We are so grateful for the Sundt Foundation’s support. We continue to provide services during this crisis with your generosity. This gift allows us to continue our work and empower our survivors,” said Sandra Nevarez Garcia, Executive Director for El Paso Center Against Sexual & Family Violence.

For its regular quarterly grant cycle, the Sundt Foundation also awarded $1,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of El Paso. The grant will help the organization support families whose children are suffering from severe illness and receiving medical treatment outside of their community.

The Sundt Foundation awards grants each quarter to nonprofit organizations that support disadvantaged children and families. Grant recipients are selected through an application process, then reviewed by Sundt employee-owners within their local giving area.
