FORT WORTH, Texas (December 4, 2019) – Sundt Construction, Inc. recently expanded Senior Vice President and Southwest District Manager Ryan Abbott’s role to include the Texas District of the Building Group.

“Our presence in San Antonio and the Metroplex continues to expand and having Ryan in this position will continue our success,” said Teri Jones, Sundt’s Building Group President.

In his expanded role, Abbott will provide direction to the Texas district’s leadership team and is responsible for the overall performance of its building projects, including acquiring and executing work in the Lone Star State.

Abbott began his career at Sundt two decades ago as a field engineer, working his way through every level of project management prior to being named senior vice president and Southwest District Manager. He has played a key role in many notable Sundt projects, including the $256 million Arizona State University (ASU) Sun Devil Stadium transformation in Tempe (a joint venture with Hunt Construction), the $400 million Banner – University Medical Center Tucson tower in Tucson (a joint venture with DPR Construction), and the $113 million Interdisciplinary Science & Technology Building 4 at ASU in Tempe.

As a modern construction leader, national lecturer and educator on alternate project delivery methods, Abbott has had his work published both locally and nationally in many industry-leading periodicals. With his leadership, he has proven that when a constructor focuses on the success of its clients and community, it too will prosper.

Abbott currently serves as the chair for the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC)’s building division. He holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Arizona State University (ASU), where he remains active as the immediate past chair of the ASU Alumni Association and a National Alumni Council member.

Abbott was named one of the 2012 Building Design + Construction 40 Under 40 and the 2011 Engineering News-Record (ENR) Top 20 under 40 for his extensive professional accomplishments and active role in the industry and community.

Sundt has 50 years and nearly $3 billion of project work throughout Texas, with offices in Fort Worth, Irving, San Antonio and El Paso. The company recently completed the University of North Texas Biomedical Engineering Addition in Denton and is working on the Southeast Recreation Center in Arlington, Texas and the Denton County Administration Complex Phase III. Sundt is busy in the downtown San Antonio area working on the San Pedro Creek Improvements, Canopy by Hilton Downtown San Antonio and the CPS Energy Headquarters renovations. The company is also working on four projects for the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso (HACEP), including the revitalization of the historic Blue Flame building in downtown El Paso.
