The AIT complex has room for up to 320 soldiers in its four-story barracks. Sundt’s work on the project also included site development as well as a pedestrian trail and parking lot. The facility is LEED® Gold certified, equipped with a state-of-the-art solar water heating system and greywater system. This is Sundt’s approximately 30th LEED® Gold certified building.

The U.S. Marines hosted the installation’s memorialization ceremony on March 1 wherein the building was dedicated to Marine Sgt. Lucas T. Pyeatt, a fallen Marine and Defense Language Institute alumnus. Sgt. Pyeatt was the epitome of a Marine and known for being kind and considerate of others. Pyeatt was posthumously promoted to sergeant and awarded the National Intelligence Medal of Valor, Purple Heart and Combat Action Ribbon.  His life and legacy will be remembered by all who pass through this building.

“Being able to contribute a building to such a storied U.S. Army installation is something Sundt is deeply proud of,” said Sundt Project Manager Tyler Pratt.

Sundt’s federal government construction experience includes building exceptional facilities at military installations around the country, including Fort Bliss, Fort Sam Houston and Fort Hood in Texas; Marine Corps Air Station Yuma in Arizona; Fort Polk in Louisiana; Fort Campbell and Camp Lejeune in Kentucky; and Camp Pendleton in California.
