Several Sundt employees gave a helping hand recently to a community organization in Bulverde, Texas that does valuable work on behalf of abused and neglected children. St. Jude’s Ranch is dedicated to transforming the lives of abused and at-risk children, young adults and families by empowering them to create new chances, new choices and new hope in a caring community. The organization aims to break the cycle of abuse and neglect by mending spirits and renewing hope.

Through a volunteer event sponsored by the Sundt Foundation, the group of Sundt employees from our San Antonio office spent a day moving and organizing supplies used at St. Jude’s Bulverde campus in preparation for the renovation of its community center. Everything from old computers and conference chairs to shelves of toiletries and children’s clothing had to be moved and organized so that they’re still accessible during the renovation project.

“St. Jude’s Ranch is an amazing local organization helping the youth of our community. We are so lucky to have had the opportunity to volunteer as a group at their campus and help prepare for their upcoming renovations,” says Abby Shaver, Sundt Foundation board member.

The Sundt Foundation was established in 1999 by Sundt Construction, Inc., as a way for its employee-owners to give back to the communities in which they work. In addition to funding grants every quarter, the Foundation also sponsors volunteer activities to benefit nonprofit organizations. The grant money comes primarily from contributions made by Sundt employees, which are matched dollar-for-dollar by the company.

Since its inception the Foundation has made grants totaling approximately $6 million to hundreds of worthy organizations. Approximately 75 percent of the money goes to help disadvantaged children, with the remaining 25 percent dedicated to community issues. Employees can also earmark their donations for charitable organizations that benefit members of the military and their families.
