Sundt Foundation Awards $10,000 To Local Nonprofits

SAN DIEGO (Dec. 10, 2013) – Sundt Construction, Inc.’s San Diego employees have selected nine local nonprofit organizations to receive Sundt Foundation grants totaling $10,000 this quarter. The Sundt Foundation was established by Sundt in 1999 to give its employee-owners a means of giving back to their communities. It provides financial support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and adults. Most grants are made to organizations in the communities where Sundt has offices and construction projects. The Foundation is funded primarily by contributions from Sundt employees and company matching. To date, the organization has awarded more than $5 million in donations to organizations throughout California, Arizona, Texas and beyond. Here’s a closer look at the San Diego organizations that recently received funding.

$2,000 Grant Recipient
Fresh Start Surgical Gifts
will use the funds to help transform the lives of disadvantaged infants, children and teens with physical deformities caused by birth defects, accidents, abuse or disease through the gift of reconstructive surgery and related healthcare services.

$1,000 Grant Recipients (8)
Escondido Community Child Development Center will continue providing high-quality childcare and early education to low-income families, increasing the family’s ability to be a fully-functioning unit.

Survivors of Torture, International will use the funds to care for survivors of politically-motivated torture through a holistic program, including medical, dental, psychiatric, psychological and social services.

Casa de Amparo will help those affected by and at risk of child abuse and neglect through a range of programs and services that promote healing, growth and healthy relationships.

Imperial Lions Medical Foundation will us the grant funds to help kids with eye exams and eye glasses and supply uninsured and low income adults with diabetic testing equipment.

Greater La Jolla Meals-On-Wheels (GLJMOW) will use the funds to help deliver meals to seniors, the temporarily or chronically ill, the disabled and any person who is unable to get out and provide for themselves.

Casa Youth Shelter will use the grant money to continue providing emergency temporary shelter for homeless, runaway and abandoned youth, enabling them to get through crisis with increased personal strength and a sense of renewal while in a supportive environment with family reunification as a primary goal.

Assistance League of Rancho San Dieguito will use the grant money to help make a positive difference in the lives of children and adults in the community affected by trauma, violence and poverty.

Oceanside Ivey Ranch Park Association will use the funds to provide educational and recreational activities that encourage the interaction between disabled and able-bodied children of all ages.
