Sundt’s industrial construction project will improve efficiency and reduce water consumption at this microchip manufacturing facility.

Sundt is performing an industrial construction project for an expanding microchip manufacturer that will result in the more efficient production of microchips. The design-build, turnkey project involves construction of a new brine reduction facility to improve water efficiency.  A brine flow of 2.1 million gallons per day (MGD) will be reduced into a concentrated brine stream of 60 gallons per minute (0.09 MGD) by recovering high quality water that will be reused at the manufacturing plant to reduce its overall city water consumption.

The project includes (but is not limited to) the design and construction of: solids contact clarifiers, filter media basins, ion exchange vessels, reverse osmosis trains, a sludge holding tank, sludge dewatering belt filter presses, a mechanical evaporator, chemical feed systems, electrical work and instrumentation.

Construction began in August 2012 and the project is scheduled for completion this December.
