Gabriel’s Angels will use its Sundt Foundation grant to connect therapy dogs, like the one pictured above, with 125 Phoenix-area children.

More than 40 nonprofit organizations will be receiving Sundt Foundation grants in time for the holidays – to the tune of nearly $120,000. The organizations, which serve the needs of disadvantaged children and adults, were selected from more than 100 applicants from areas where Sundt has a regional office or an active construction project. (See full list here.)

Among the recipients is Gabriel’s Angels, a Phoenix-area organization that provides pet therapy for abused and at-risk children. Its goal is to increase the overall sense of well-being and happiness for children in a safe environment, and to build critical core behaviors, such as trust, empathy, respect, tolerance and self-esteem.

“The Sundt Foundation grant will be used to offer pet therapy services to 125 children,” said Zee Peters, the organization’s chief development officer. “We appreciate the generous support that Sundt’s employee-owners have shown to Gabriel’s Angels through grants for our pet therapy program this year and for the past few.”

The Sundt Foundation raises money primarily through contributions from Sundt employees, which are then matched dollar-for-dollar by the company. Since its inception in 1999 the Foundation has made grants totaling more than $5 million to hundreds of worthy organizations. Most grants are awarded in communities where Sundt has an established office. Employees can also direct their donations to charitable organizations that benefit members of the military and their families.
