A Sundt employee explains the general contractor’s use of the Last Planner system. Previous to adopting Last Planner, a project manager would develop the schedule on his or her own. Last Planner is a more collaborative approach to construction management that involves foremen in the planning process — which helps create a schedule that is more accurate. Owners and vendors may also be involved. Through collaboration with all who make a project possible — and weekly, six-week look-ahead meetings — Sundt is able to eliminate and/or problem-solve obstacles that might create delays or changes.
