Sundt Quality Construction Management

As one of our company’s core values, Sundt is committed to providing a quality product and a quality construction experience for all of our clients. To this end, our Quality Services Department has developed a comprehensive Quality Management System that emphasizes a proactive approach to quality management in all stages of a project.

Aspects of our quality management system include:

• On-going constructability reviews throughout the life of a project
• A project-specific water event prevention and control program
• A project-specific quality management plan for each project that will outline the quality management efforts during the construction process
• Individual “Preparatory” meetings with subcontractors to clarify expected levels of quality for the project
• Standard of Quality inspections of work put in place to verify that the expected level of quality is met
• Tracking and resolution of any deficient/non-conforming work
• A comprehensive warranty process, which includes a final warranty walk through with the Owner’s representative prior to the end of a warranty period.

In addition to our overseeing the quality processes at the project level, the Quality Department is also an active proponent of a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout all levels of the company. To help achieve this, the Quality Department coordinates internal audits on all of our construction projects, oversees internal project wrap-up meetings, and conducts numerous other activities to capture continuous improvement ideas. The Quality Department, along with the Learning and Performance Support Department, has also been instrumental in developing a Best Practices system to capture and disseminate the company’s 119 years worth of construction knowledge.

The Quality Department has a number of highly educated Quality Professionals, including several who hold certifications through the International Code Council. We also have over 70 employees throughout the company who have taken the Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors course.
