At the Val Vista Water Treatment Plant in Phoenix, Ariz., Sundt completed an upgrade project at the 220-million-gallon-per-day facility. The team added a flow split system that directs water from one of the plant’s three reservoirs solely to City of Mesa customers and helps the municipalities track and manage their water output.

The project included the addition of new flow split structure, reservoir inlet and outlet structures, chemical feed equipment, installation of new baffles and new instrumentation for water quality monitoring and compliance. Sundt also modified the plant's existing electrical and chemical systems.  The challenging project included extensive shoring required to support existing facilities during construction.  All of the excavation, piping and concrete construction and mechanical work was performed by Sundt’s own crews.

Previously, Sundt completed a $78 million project at Val Vista that included the installation of a new granular activated carbon filtration system.
